Kratom is chemically composed of the following components mitragynine and 7-OH-mitragynine; both which are the active components of kratom. The two components are closely related to yohimbine, but binds to the Mu, Delta and kappa opiate receptors of the brain and the body, a fact that has made it a viable cure for opiate substance addiction. Kratom has become increasingly popular in the west, and the popularity is fuelled by the online sellers who have coined it as a "legal high". Kratom taken in small amount, is just a mild stimulant just like the nicotine or caffeine providing stamina and bursts of energy, however, if taken in exceeding amount, kratum will cause opiate-like effects and parts of the effects the user experiences include, sedation, nausea and a state of euphoria. This is attributed to the binding affinity to the opiate receptors throughout the body, caused by the active ingredients in kratom, thus exhibiting similar effects caused by opiate analgesic like morphine and codeine. In some cases the use of kratom has proven to be habitual, just like the opiate substance but nonetheless in a less destructive manner. Since kraton has similar effects to opiate substances, some of the side effects might be similar and they include itchy sensation and constipation.
Kratom sources differ and also the plant itself differ from place to place. For example maeng da kratom is known to be the strongest variant of kratom in the world, it originates from Thailand, but it is illegal there. However, Indonesia is one of the largest indigenous kratom exporters in the world and thus a credible source. People residing in the west can get kratum from the online kratum retailers. You should be cautious though as there could be unscrupulous dealers who are selling fake kratum and it could be hazardous to your health.
Kratom's strength is dependent on a number of factors, that is, strain, who supplies the kratom and the time of year kratom is used. However, normal doses range from 2-4 grams and a higher dosage consist of 5-10 grams. Dosages over 10 grams are considered to be overdose and can be dangerous to one's health, albeit no fatal cases of kratom overdose has ever been reported, except a single case where the deceased was reported to have taken other drugs along with kratom.
Mode of Consumption
Kratom as is tree, its leaves are said to contain the highest concentration of the two main active components. For the longest time possible may users have chewed on the leaf so as to benefit from the medicinal effects. However, in tine other methods of consumption have emerged with the consumption of the leaves in powered form being the most common method used up to now. The powered form of kratum is the most potent and fast acting form of kratum that can be consumed. It can also be boiled in water in a mixture of kratum powder and tea, and consumed as tea, kratum is hardly soluble in water thus it is advisable to use it in tea. This is the most recommended method of consumption.
Kratom legal policies in the world
Kratom has been presumed to cure opiate addicts among other illness and conditions. Hitherto the curing properties the plant has, it has and continues to be banned in Thailand as it reduced the countries tax returns on the import of the opiates. Possession and the sale of this plant is also illegal in Malaysia and Australia among other countries. However, in the united states of America and Canada, no clear policy and guidelines has been set or rather indicate that the use of kratom is prohibited, as no regulations have been made so far by the federal government using the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) neither has it been approved for human consumption by the Food And Drugs Agency (FDA) or any governing body in Canada: but it has been classified among the "Drug and chemical of concern list" and the State of Indiana has been the only state so far in the united State to indirectly Ban the use of kratom. Lack of clear cut policies is the main reason why the drug hasn't been advertised on a larger scale in the US and Canada. Kratom is legal in Indonesia where it grows freely and naturally, making Indonesia the largest exporters of kratom in the world with the large market being the west.
